How do I check.....
My computer for a processor or RAM problem?
It's acting slow sometimes. I'll go to open a program and the whole thing freezes. Sometimes for up to 45 secs. Even when typing, all of a sudden text will stop appearing even as I am typing. The all of a sudden appear in the eact order of key strokes. I have run spy ware programs and virus programs with no results. Any suggestions? Thanks Mark |

It's very unlikely to be a processor problem.
You can test your RAM with a software memory tester like Memtest86+ or DocMemory. You might want to test your hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic utility too. How full is the hard drive? Try replacing the SATA cable with another one. Cricket

Thanks for the response. Where do I get Memtest86+ or Doc Memory. Do buy them in stores, or is a an online link for them? The hard drive is a long way from beinf full. The SATA cable, which is that one? Is it internal, or external? Thanks Mark |

DocMemory The SATA cable is generally a red cable with black connectors on each end. It's an internal cable connecting the hard drive to the motherboard. Here's a picture of a Serial ATA cable. kram
