Wierd Problem
Ok so this is what happened...
I was playing a game just like normal and suddenly it freezes up and the screen goes black (blank). The computer is still running but there is not dsiplay. I try to push the reset button but it doesnt work. So i just keep pushing shut off and i shut off the computer. Now i try to turnit back on. Doesnt work. It keeps turning on but no display. Sometimes it will post but then the screen goes blank again. After trying again and again i got it to boot up into windows 2 times. The first time i was stupid enough to try the game again and it did the same thing. Trying a few more times it booted into windows 2nd time. I was really curious as to what happened, so i started a mini 3d app and i opened up monitors. I wanted to test if there was somethin overheating or voltage dissruption, so i started it and it did it again. Ok so now the same thing is happening with the boot up. But this time watever i try it still doesnt boot into windows. What has happened?? I know this is something with the video card...but how? I know it didnt overheat because temperatures were just fine. Perhaps its something to do with the powersupply?? My full specs are in my signature.

Is there a display at startup?
If not, then reseat the RAM and video card making sure they're fully seated. If that does not help, then do a barebones setup by installing only the power supply, MB, CPU, video card, RAM, monitor, and KB. If there's still no display, then swap out the PS, MB, CPU, video card, and RAM, or have then shop tested. Also, check the MB for any bulging, leaking, or ruptured capacitors. If any are like this, then the MB is toast. If there's a display at startup, then does it start in Safe mode? If not, then there may be a problem with the HD. If it starts in Safe mode, then do a 'Last known good configuration'. If that does not work, then do a clean boot to find a possible corrupt driver. |

Follow the troubleshooting steps outlined here and let us know what happens.
Do you have any compatible spare parts you can swap in to test with? Cricket

If you can, return your system to stock speeds (reset CMOS if you can't get into BIOS). That's the first step...gotta eliminate OCing as the cause.

See if you can boot up in safe mode.

Yes i fixed it now. When puttin back the stock cooler on my 1800xt i flipped the backplate when attaching it. It was facing the metal side, so ya the metal was shorting the card out. Flipped it over to the plastic spacers and its working fine now lol. Gotta pay more attention next time.
