Video Card Temperatures

Sorry if this is yet another repeat question. I'm sure it is - but I wasn't able to find an answer anywhere.

I have a Nvidia GEForce 6800 GT 128mb graphics card. The temperature in my room is actually kinda warm usually - and I know that plays a part. Right now its running at like 58C with no load. Inside EverQuest II (for example) it gets up to 70C. I've been having the comp crash. Is it crashing due to the temperature of the video card? It doesn't seem to crash in other games - but they might be less strain on the card, also. I don't know. I'm getting worried at seeing the screen lock up + blue screen of death attacks.

Thanks in advance.

Oh, btw. I have a Thermaltake Tsunami Dream case - and it has one of those darn side-fans which I've heard can constrict more than aid airflow. The processor runs at 39C idle, btw. (AMD Athlon 64 3200+ w/ Venice core)

Well ive heard 6600s getting pretty hot but im not familiar with 68. That seem lik e pretty normal load temps for me. But are u lookin at them as soon as u get out of the game? I would suggest using riva tunner and using the graph to monitor temps. Other then that perhaps cleaning the case a bit? There might be some dust in the fan of ur card. That temp for ur cpu isnt too bad but ive heard ppl with the same proc as u getting much lower idles. But hey each is diff.

Looks like your temps are fine...what power supply do you have? (brand and wattage).

I have an Xclio 450w.

Was just in the game again - had the same problem. Comp froze up - didn't blue screen. Temp specs were around 68 or 70 when I got out. I think that's probably on the high end due to the room temperature. I'm in an old place with wall-unit AC's. And this room doesn't happen to have one. Plus, its an upstairs room.

I guess I should think about moving this to another topic if the temperature isn't the cause.

To verify if the problem is heat related or not you can run the computer with the side panel off and have a small table fan blow into the case. If the problems go away, you have a case cooling issue.

i know its against the rules for anyone to advise,,but in this issue i had long discutions in this forum because i have p4 3ghz priscot and i live in a hot country were the room tem can be over 50 degree in the summer...
i used to get cpu temp up to over 70c degree ....

i am using the way shown above (removing the side cover and putting a big box fan at the side of my pc) it made lots of deffrense...instead of putting lots of smaller fans to push the air out.... my pc temp never go above 60c degree now...but one more thing i found that putting the fan the other way around is better...(i mean not to blow air in but to pull air out)
