Angry Fire Ambient Data Fax Modem Troubleshooting Pls Help me out!!!

Hi Dudes!

I am getting really sick of a Cirius Logic Modem which I was trying to configure in Win 95. Windows detected the modem and then I installed the Drivers which I downloaded from Intel's Website. Now I don't know for what reason win keep on putting modem at COM5. I then tried to configure the Utility which is in the Control Panel under the name of CLM Configuration. The moment I double cliked it says CLM Configuration and all its drivers are unintalled do you want windows to shut down? .

Please help me out . I have wasted so much time on this.

Thanks in advance.

Gopal

Thanks Glc my modem is PCI and without jumpers and the Chipset number on that is CL-MD 5620 DT and there is one more number down there which read as CL-MD 1724 T

Please help me out. I think it is because of WIN95. I can see the COMFIX Utility tried to run in the backgroud but then it says program performed an Illigel Operation and should be closed.

Thanks in advance.

Try the following -

Uninstall the modem and remove it from the computer. Go into BIOS and disable Com 2. Boot up into SAFE MODE and remove all modems and com ports you find in device manager. Reboot and let Windows reinstall Com 1 and ONLY Com 1. Shut down and reinstall the modem - and it should plug and play and install on Com 2.

Thanks Glc I did what you advised me to do. Everything went right but when I tried to install the Drivers from the CD Rom by the Modem. Win95 tried to run the utility in the dos platform and could not run that utility. It says the program performed an illigel operation. And in the details it says Kernel32.dll on the unvalid page.
Also I could not uninstall the CLM Configuration Utility in the Control Panel.

I was reading the manual and it said that you can configure the COM from the CLM Configuration.
I am stuck now at COMFIX and CLM Configuration.

Please advice.

Thanks in advance.

just take it back to the shop, as glc has told me before, the intel modems are completely useless and even if you do manage to get it running, your transfer speed will be awful and the connection will time out alot.

in future stay away from PCI modems. go for an external or and ISA hardware modem.
