RAM - 3200 or 4000?
I'm just starting to gather info and order parts to build my first PC. I'm going to be using and AMD Athlon64 3700 CPU. My question is regarding what Memory to get-
I have heard that if you're going to overclock (which I am) it's best to get 4000 not 3200 as 3200 can bottleneck it? is this true? I've also read a bit on latencyand timings and stuff but don't really understand what it's all about. Hope you can clear this up for me. |

3200 will not bottleneck an overclocked Athlon 64 due to the different memory scheme (Hypertransport) it uses. You don't overclock one of those in the traditional manner. Just buy a quality brand of PC3200 and you will be fine. There's a thread in this forum dealing with A64 overclocking.
