Equivalent Speeds
This is not meant to be an AMD v. Intel Thread, I am just wondering what CPUS on the AMD line are equivalent to what on the Intel.
For example what AMD is equivalent to an Intel Pentium 4. Also, I know that for an = processor, AMD's clock speeds are lower, but what are the speeds for an equivalent processor. Also: DO AMD MOBOS HAVE THE CAPABILITY OF USING DDR2 240 PIN RAM OR JUST NORMAL 184 PIN Last edited by BJDwrk; 04-30-2006 at 01:00 PM. |

In brief, AMD's "+" naming is usually fairly equivalent to Intel's GHz rating. So, an AMD 3000+ is roughly equal to an Intel 3.0 GHz.
It depends on the mobo and CPU as to which memory type is used. Currently, AMD is still using DDR since the memory controller is on the CPU and not the motherboard. So far, though, DDR2 is not blowing one's hair back in terms of speed gains, but that's getting better. |
