external hdd help
hey guys, awhile back I knocked my external hdd off my table and the hdd inside the external case got messed up (i tested it in a desktop and it still didnt work). So I decided to buy an internal hdd and put it in my external hdd case. I turn it on and the little "new hardware" connect thing pops up in the bottom right corner. However, when I go to my computer the external drive does not show up. Any ideas on what I need to do to get it working?

You're going to have to partition and format it.
Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management.

Yep Pam's right, Also I use a Disk Managment Snap in... Start, Run, Type MMC, Click Ok. Then Click File, Add/Remove Snap In, Click Add, Then Disk Managment, This Computer, Add, Ok, Ok and then your set. It is the exact same as the Disk Managment Screen but you can add Defragmenter, and things like that and save the console to your desktop if you'll be in there from time to time. You'll be laughing as soon as you get a partition or 2 on that one and have it formatted. I swear by external drives for backups.
