Unreadable Segments
Can anyone point me to a good place where I could read up on what to do (or when to stop doing and just get a new HD) with unreadable sectors detected by chkdsk.
I have an old 40G HD with and it makes the chkdsk freeze at some point (65%) after it detects a few unreadable segments; unless it takes REAL long without giving any clue and makes me think its frozen... Btw I was able to format the drive so there is nothing on it. If you have any good reads on that, let me know! Thanks. |

If you have just formatted the drive, run manufacturer's diagnostics on it. ANY errors, replace the drive. It's only going to get worse.
