cdrom skips on some songs
Hello all, I have a pc cdrom that skips on some of my songs between #10 and
15 or so. I burn approximately 17 - 28 songs on each disk from mp3 files using MUSIMATCH software that came with my HP burner. I have burned about 20 CDR's and each one skips about in the same general area. Could this be a problem with the MITSUMI cdrom on my pc? Please note that I tried my CDR's on my home stereo CD player and have absolutely no skips at all!! Anyone else have a problem with skipping? I burn at the slowest speed so I think I get better music quality. Can someone help me with this please? please advise, thank you, God Bless, Robert J. |

It could be the CD-Rom, but more than likely it is the files you are burning or the CD-Burning Software.
Go to http://hotfiles.zdnet.com/cgi-bin/te...es/search.html and get a program called MP32Wav. This program will convert the MP3 files to a wav format which you then burn, if it still skips then uninstall the burning software and reinstall it. Also defrag your hard drive. As far as burning at the slowest speed, that is BS as far as I am concerned, the fack is that the sampling rate that the music was encoded at and the frequency are the determining factor in quality not burn speed. |

Do you have DMA enabled on the CD-ROM in question? Does it skip when you play it on the "HP burner"?

K A Hall, No I don't have "DMA" enabled,...am I supposed to?
All of the CDR'S that I have burned skip songs in the same general area, songs from # 10 through # 15. Any of these tracks will skip on ALL of my CDR'S. I have this feeling that my cd-rom has a problem. After all each of my CDR'S will play completely on our home stereo and also my sons CD player without skipping 1 note! thank you, please advise, God Bless, Robert J. |

Enabling DMA on the drive may help. It will not hurt to try.
