Diskeeper - defrag after 2 hours?
My harddrive according to the analysis done by Diskeeper is becoming severely fragmented after only a few hours of use. I use my PC for mostly games and browsing the internet. Everynight before bed I will run a defrag where the anaysis will always report a WARNING after only 2 hours of gameplay. When the defrag is complete it will report HEALTHY but sure enough after 2 more hours of gaming it reports a WARNING again. Is Diskeeper a very persistant program regarding defragmenting or should I be looking into the settings on my PC? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My specs are: AMD Athlon 3700+ BFG 7800GT 2 gigs RAM Seagate Barracuda 80 gig HD Running Windows XP |

I went into Services and disable diskeepers stupid service....I don't need to be reminded when to defrag..Even defragging and rebooting can trigger DK to want to defrag....

Thanks Ezy. So do you think Diskeeper is giving me an inaccurate analysis on my drive? Shows an aweful lot of "red" files after a couple of hours of use.

How full is the drive? Diskeeper Lite will nag you to death, but the paid version will defrag in the background on a schedule with no nags.

Using the paid for version. My drive is only 40% used. I don't have the scheduling option on. I just start the anaysis each night after gaming and the report always shows a warning.

Yeah,me too. After an evening of Quake 4, Diskeeper shows a lot of "low performance"
(red) files and folders,so I just have it defrag;but if you do it often, even on a big drive,it's not that bad. DoomLord |

I just use set it and forget it and let it do it when it wants to. It kicks in once or twice a day, but only takes about a minute or two.
