Downloading Digital Pics
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to download digital pics from my camera to a flash drive? I have a USB cable that normally connects to my PC and downloads very easily, but I was wondering if this could be done directly to my USB 1GB Flash Drive? It has a USB connector also. Do they make a USB to USB connector that would connect the two ends?

I can't say I've ever heard of that being done, even with a USB hub. What you can do is connect both the camera and the flash drive to a computer then copy & paste directly to the flash drive.

Yes, I was gonna try to bypass the computer and just save directly to flash drive if possible. But maybe Im years ahead of technology.....hehehe.

If your camera uses a Memory Stick, I believe I've seen USB thumbdrives that use mem sticks for their memory. Take it out of the camera, put it into the thumbdrive.

The thing is, unless you can find something like TwoRails suggested, you're stuck with a problem:
Either your camera has to have software that will recognize the flash drive, and send pictures through, or the flash drive has to have software to interface with the camera and take pictures off of it. Interesting idea, but I don't see any on the market as of yet. You never know, it might be here in a year! ![]() Going further, the infrastructure needs to be improved. Most camera interface cables don't transmit power, that I am aware... Last edited by Kareeser; 05-07-2006 at 11:39 PM. |
