Plextor. They make the best CD writer.

What about Teac?

Have you ever heard of them?

I don't know about the Teac, but I'd definetly go with the Plexor. It's pretty well accepted as the best CD writer. I bought an HP when I was in a crunch and needed a writer right away, and I really wished I had waited to get the Plexor.

Teac is fine, as long as it has Burnproof. Their later 12X and all 16X burners all do. If it has a "B" in the model number, it does. If the budget dictates and Teac is considerably cheaper than Plextor, it's a good bet.

I have been looking on AUT Direct, they are apparently a good place to buy from in the UK and I would like to try them out

Please could you look here and see what would be best. I probably won't be doing an awful lot of multitasking whilst running the burner, just on a few internet sites and MSN Messenger

The Top 3 products on this page are the ones that are realisticly in my budget at 15 years old

http://www.autdirect.co.uk/acatalog/...proofs_14.html

Thanks very much,

Also, I may be able to afford the TDK Writer on that page (I believe it is about the fifth one down)

Thanks,

TDK Burnproof 12 x 10 x 32
TDK Vortex Rewriter
12 x 10 x 32
with Nero Software
For more detailed information CLICK HERE
Price:**£76.59 £89.99*Including VAT at 17.5%

That's the best bet on that page. Nero can't be beat either.

There is one rwr beeing TEAC 12x8x24 SCSI. Yes if you do not have that old classic SB16 with this SCSI controller it has, yar' bain a SCSI plate AHA-2940AU for $150 more fore the rwr.
If not, buy an IDE sec. han. rwr for as low as 42.
