i was surfing the net and scrolling down with my mouse, all of a sudden my mouse froze and the screen went off as if it was getting no signal? the green light went orange on the monitor.
I dont think it crashed because i was pressing the num lock and caps lock keys, i do this and they were flashing as i was tapping them.. from my experience this means the pc hasnt crashed, because if it has then you press it once and it lights up but press it again and it doesnt go off.. so if it didnt crash what was it? anyone know? i left my pc on for about 2 days without a restart, but it should be rock stable? |

Does the computer still work? If this is a first time happening I'd just let it slide unless it starts happening again.

It sounds like your graphics card conked out on you.
If you can, can you take your card out and revert back to on-board video, or swap out your card for another known working card? |

Sometimes i boot up and my screen colour is all blue.. that has happened about 2-3 times, but not that often, and another reboot usually fixes it, is that the lead or the gfx card?. I was wondering if ram might have caused it though, on the other hand it might not because i got no blue screen.. plus ive tested the ram i have at its rated 250mhz for about 2-3 days with prime95 blend test, so i dont think its that. i do have other problems aswell with newer drivers and java, if i use the new drivers and i go to play say runescape 2 in high detail mode the applet would freeze up almost immediately.. then i switch back to old drivers from over a year ago and that works fine, but i get bitty sound in other games then such as GTA SA. I dont like it when problems like this occur because i have no idea what the source of the problem is, i guess the ram is eliminated from being the problem though by the looks of it. I might be getting a newer card towards the end of this year, im not sure yet but ill see how it goes. I know when i bought this card i found out it wasnt the model displayed on their site, and supposedly other people had problems with them at the time.. i didnt, unless the problems are showing up late? no idea. ![]() also games like CS source have dipped to as low as 17FPS! i cant say i used to notice this either.. im sure it used to run butterly smooth, so did half life 2 + DM.. my father has a simular gfx card but his seems about the same with half life 2, so its either me noticing things late or there is a problem, and i guess with my fathers gfx card too (maybe). Take out your video card, and blow off the dust collected in the fan, if there is any. Then reseat it.
Hopefully, that'll work. |
