system not posting

I have an ECS 755-A2 board (I know it's crap) and a sempron 2800. I was having problems with my LCD screen so i tried to replace the video card. After that, the entire system wouldn't post. I have checked every part independantly and everything (ram, vid card, proc) will post on other systems. When I do get it to post, it hangs on Dectcting IDE Drives. I tried to pop the battery to clear cmos to factory, but now I can't even get power to the board. Any ideas?

Thanks.

system not postin

i've been building computers for a while, and have never had this problem. I built the system that quit working. It was working fine for over 4 months.

All of the components are good...the only thing I can't test is the actual board.

How long does a battery have to be out to reset a cmos?

Depends on the motherboard...some will reset as soon as the battery is removed, some can take as long as half an hour for the capacitors to discharge.

Did you try for post with the motherboard out of the case yet?
