Can't get windows to recognize SATA HD

I have an ASUS A78N-E MB with AMD XP 3000+ and WD 800 SATA HDD. This is a replacement HDD. A Seagate bit the dust that was only about 2 mos old. Anyway when i use the driver disk that I have used in the past with the SATA drivers on it the appear to download just fine. But for some reason when I get to the Starting Windows point the Dreaded message NO HDD recognized appears. Could this be a setting in the BIOS causing this? It seems to me that I read something about this in a Maximum PC mag at one point? This is the most diffucult thing for me--I don't know why!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm moving this to Drives and Storage. Did you press F6 and load the sata drivers?
