What is the fastest DVD ripping drive?

Im looking to buy a drive for dvd ripping. I want to buy the fastest one available. I have searched alot, but mostly everything I came across was at least 1 year old. From what I found, the LITE-ON 16P9S is one of the fastest ripping drives out there, when modded/hacked firmware is installed. Is this still true, or is there a new drive out that is known for FAST ripping speeds?

Ripping speed will be determined by a lot of things. Processor speed and RAM will have an efffect as well as the quality of Media that you use. NEC-Lite & On, as well as some others, can be had for under $40.

I just wanted to say I bought a Lite-On SOHD-16P9S. After modding the firmware I was very impressed with its speed. I have only ripped a few discs. With the stock firmware I ripped Road to Perdition and got an average rip speed of 5.9X and max of 8.3. I then updated the firmware and set all the values to max (with the omnipatcher) and it gave me average 8.5x, max 15x.
