Hard drive query
Hello,
I built my self a new system about 6 weeks ago and everything is working just fine with it. I do however have a slight query regarding the hard drive setup… Hard drive: Maxtor Diamondmax 300GB Sata Mother Board: Intel D955XBK OS: XP Pro When I was installing the components I literally just plugged the sata cable from the hard drive straight into the motherboard sata connections (of which there are 4). I did all the normal BIOS stuff and installed the OS. On checking all the drives I noticed that my hard drive was under f: as opposed to c: as I was expecting… Is this normal?? How would I go about changing the hard drive from f: to c:?? Many thanks in advance Pryse |

You probably had a card reader connected when you first installed XP. This shifts the drive letters. You would have to reinstall XP with the reader disconnected in order to change it now.

Correct.... When you say 'reinstall' do you mean a complete 'start from scratch / delete partition' installation?
