I have pulled a HD from an old machine and stuck it in a smart drive external HD. It is available to me but I have a file that was on the desktop in the old machine thatI can't find. Is there any way to see the old desktop display? Both os were xp.

It will be found in X:\DocumentsAndSettings\"UserName"\Desktop
'X' is whatever letter that external drive has on the new machine. "UserName" is the user name of the user whose desktop it was, and if you find that folder but can not access the files in that deskttop folder, then you'll need to right click the folder, then click sharing and security, then security tab, then advanced, than give yourself ownership and or permissions to get into that folder.. http://support.microsoft.com/default...308421&sd=tech
