Power supply noise

I noticed lately that my PSU makes a high pitch noise, you can barely hear it but it's there. When I turn off the computer it still makes that noise, however if I turn off the PSU's on-off swith you can hear the noise gradually get quieter till it's gone, it takes about 7 seconds, you can then turn the PSU's switch back on and there isn't any noise until you once again turn on the computer and the same noise comes back and stays regardless whether the computer is off or on and like I said I have to turn off the power supply in order to get rid of the noise, does it mean the PSU is about to die? The PSU is a 400 watt Antec

Open a trouble ticket with Antec and see what they say. You should have a 3 year warranty.

I had the same thing with my Antec SP 2.0 500w.... i called Antec and had it RMA'd. My noise seems like it was a little more prominent than yours though. Mine sounded like the bearing on the fan was going bad. They sent a new unit and everything is fine, for now.. until the noise starts again

Response from antec

My answer was that it was out of warranty, anyway I tried a power supply tester and the readings say the PSU is fine even though as its being tested it still makes that noise, any suggestions whats causing it and should I replace the PSU, thanks.

Blown capacitors or the fan bearings wearing down can be the cause. I'm a cheapo so I would use it till it dies, but that can potentially cause trouble in the long run so replacing it would be the better idea.
