"Windows - No Disk" Message
Hello everyone,
I built myself a new system about 6 weeks ago and since day 1 i've had an error message appearing (reletively frequently). It usually appears when I am either installing or opening applications. Message: _____________________________________________________ Windows - No Disk There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive Cancel / Try Again / Continue _____________________________________________________ Not matter what action I take (Cancel / Try Again / Continue) after a few clicks the message dissapears and everything seems to work fine without problem.... Does anyone know why this message is 'popping up'? And is there anything I can do to stop this from happening? Many thanks in advance Pryse |

Try clearing your recently accessed documents list in the start menu - and stop opening or running files directly from your floppy drive, card reader, or USB stick.

you may have a program running that is looking for a disk in the floppy drive , or you have the bios set to boot from the floppy drive. check these out first.

Hello,
Thanks for the responses.... 1). How do I 'clear' the recently accessed documents list in the start menu. 2). The bios is not set to boot from floppy drive. 3). The problem doesn't appear to relate to a specific program / application it seems to be random and only occurs during an installation or when an application trys to open. Cheers |

Windows default is the C drive. Windows is looking at the reader first. Iv'e heard Windows should always be installed on the C dive. There is a way to change the drive letters without reinstalling - but I don't remeber it. Sorry I can't help any more than that.

It would be best to wipe and start over - drive letter changes for the system drive require a lot of registry editing.
