I noticed today my sound card seems to be down. Can't get a peep out of my speakers or headphones, nor can I record anything.
I've had CPU heating problems before, so I took the cover off of my case months ago. Lately, I've been running a new WebCam for several hours every night, and it really puts a pull on my system. It even slows down the time display. I wonder if my sound card problem might be heat related? Thanks for your input! --Skip |

You wouldn't by chance have an SB Live! would you. I was using one and it would lose the drivers at times, reconfigure itself and kill the sound and swap IRQ's on it's own. I got so fed up with it that it is now in my spare parts box and I reinstalled my old Diamond MX-400 which works flawlessly. I wouldn't think your heat problems had anything to do with the sound unless it caused crashes which corrupted the drivers or other sound software.
