P4 Question
I have this older dell pc with this in it. Now, i took it out because i thought that i could just swap it out for this. I put it in and turned it on...the computer turned on..it just didnt boot up.. i swapped the old 1.8 back in and everything is fine. Is it not just as easy as a swap? Is it not compatible? Is it something like the mobo doesnt support past like 2.0ghz or something? No clue. Just looking for some info.

Hard to be sure without knowing the motherboard model, but the board probably can't support a 800 Mhz processor.

That is definitely not going to work. There is not a Dell in existence that shipped with a 1.8 GHz 400 FSB processor that is going to support an 800 FSB processor, much less one with a Prescott core.
Please post the exact model Dell computer and we can advise you on possible upgrades that will work. |

Buy a $45.00 motherboard and use your new processor.
