Trouble with DVD Drive.
I have a New Plextor PX716SA Sata DVD Drive. I am having a problem burning onto a blank CD. At first it seems like the drive is working properly. But when I insert any CD or DVD into the drive, blank or not, the drive spins continuously and the green light remains on. Now this is a problem because when I try to drag a data file onto the drive’s icon in windows explorer I get an error message stating the drive is busy or inaccessible. I never seen a DVD drive spin continuously when media is inserted into drive even if the CD is blank or no programs are running. Does anyone have an idea if the drive is malfunctioning or Do have a setting that’s incorrectly set. Any information would be helpful.

When you insert a blank disc, the green light remains on, yes. That's the way it works.
Can't tell you if the drive is actually spinning the whole time (I have 2 hard drives and 4 fans running and the Plex 716 is quiet). AFAIK, Windows' own burning engine can't burn on DVDs, only CDs. Do you maybe have 3rd party tools installed that access the drive (such as InCD, DLA etc.) ? RJ
