SATA optical drives

does anybody have a rational explanation for the delay in SATA optical drives?? SATA has been around for a few years now, you would think the selection for SATA opticals would be a little bit bettter by now.

Hmm... I suppose you're right. I can think of a dozen little reasons but not a single unified reason why too many SATA opticals haven't been introduced yet.

So far, nobody has made a native SATA optical - they are all IDE with a bridge chip.
