Trouble with PCMCIA card on Toshiba Laptop
Gentlemen
I have recently had some trouble with an old Toshiba laptop (Satellite 2800-100) running ME. There were various problems and seeing it has been superceded by a new one at home I thought I would play around. Firstly I zero filled the hard drive (Using DBAN) and it now only shows as 5 gb, I can't remember what it was before but it was more than that!! I suspect that it hasn't deleted the Toshiba recovery partition but I now can't find it to delete. Any help??? Ok now the second problem: I decided to install XP which went on with out problem. The device manager showed no exclamation marks and showed a fully functioning PCMCIA adapter (A toshiba house model). I then tried to install a US Robotics PCMCIA card (USR5411) which had worked in this machine previously. The laptop recognized it but when it started the driver installation, the wizard said that it could not find any driver although the cd was present and readable. I am not sure exactly what it is looking for but I not experienced this particular problem before. Everything else on the laptop works perfectly so if someone could help with these problems I would appreciate it. Prospero |
