S.M.A.R.T. & SATA Drives

I have a 60 Gbte Primary drive and have just changed the second hard drive from a 120 Gbte PATA drive to a 200 Gbte SATA drive.

The Primary PATA drive has S.M.A.R.T. enabled but I don't seem to be able to enable S.M.A.R.T. on the SATA drive - is S.M.A.R.T. available on SATA drives ? and , if it is , how do I enable it /

The SATA drive you have may not have the SMART technology. Although most drives today has it built in.

What is the brand and model of your SATA HDD? Consult the manufacturer's website and see if it is available for that drive.
