Question About SATA Compatability

Hi,

I just read through the sticky and didn't find what I was looking for....

Is SATA-I and SATA-II cross compatible?, I've got a NF7-S V2.0 board and I doubt it will support NCQ, but in a couple of months I'm going to upgrade and that new machine is going to use SATA-II but my board at the moment i think ojnly supports SATA-I so I was wondering if I do buy a SATA-II will it work?

Thanks.

Alex

If you connect a SATA-II drive to a SATA-I mainboard it will work...backwards compatability

There are a few old SATA I controllers that are not compatible, but I believe they are all Via. If you have a problem, all SATA II drives can be downgraded to SATA I with either a jumper or a software utility.
