cant' get harddrive out of case
Compaq machine a few years old. I just need to get the harddrive out of it.
The case only opens on one side that I can see. Got screws off but there is one screw over on the other side that I can't get too. They sure have a crazy way of putting these cases together. Any ideas on how I can get the hardrive out of there? |

Keep looking. You'll find away to get the other side of the case off.
(posting the model number of the pc might help)

Look for additional screws or latches to remove the whole drive cage from the computer. If you look up the exact model on the Compaq/HP support site you may find a service manual which will tell you how to do it.

I notice the motherboard is on the side where the case isn't coming off.

Is it one of those Compaq/HP units that the hdd slides out the front? You remove the front of the case and remove the two screws from the open side. The "inside" of the hdd has two special "screws" that slide in the hdd rack. The whole thing slides out the front.

That's usually the case (no pun intended). Sometimes the motherboard tray has access holes to get at the drive screws if you can get that side of the case off.
