IDE Primary SATA secondary no recognition
I have a 40 gig baraccuda that is IDE that I want to use as primary. I have a 250 gig WD that I want to use that's SATA as secondary. I have the IDE jumpered as master and the SATA obviously doesn't need a jumper. The IDE is plugged into the primary ide port on the motherboard and the SATA is plugged into the sata2 port on the motherboard. It's still recognizing my 40 as my primary and it boots to it, like it should. But I'm not seeing the 250gig in "My Computer" nor in the bios. The only place I see it is when it's booting up it says "Press Ctrl+S for RAID controller" which never came up before I got the new SATA drive. I don't want raid, and I can't raid an IDE to SATA anyways. I have an ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe. What's the problem? Thanks.

Does that motherboard have any SATA ports that aren't part of the RAID controller?
Did you look in the BIOS to see if you can disable the RAID feature of that particular SATA controller? Can you see the SATA HDD in Disk Management? Cricket

Nah there aren't any ports not part of the raid controller. There's only 2 ports. The BIOS doesn't say anything about RAID =(. Yes it shows up in disk management.
Found out what to do in Disk Management, thanks. Last edited by BrendonW; 09-26-2006 at 08:27 PM. |
