after adding a new HD problem
hi guys , this is the second time this happen to me , 2 deffernt systems . but i got same result on both .
the pc was runing win xp home , i decided to add a bigger hard drive and reinstall winxp on the new HD and place the old HD as slave , so i unpluged the OLD drive and i installed the new drive , then installed windows ,, every thing went fine , and after loading all the driver for wnixp , i changed the jumber setting on the old HD as slave and i place it on the same IDE cable with the new one . the bios saw both HD and windows loaded fine , but when i try to access D "old drive" i get the msg " this drive not formated , would you like to format" it happen twice , in both cases i used totaly deffernt parts .so what am i doing wrong and how do i fix it . one of them i even took it and add to another pc to see if i can get the data out but i have no luck Last edited by SurgiKal; 10-07-2006 at 04:03 PM. |

All you did to the old drive is unplug it and change the jumper? What kind of drives are they? What happens if you try and reboot with the old drive?
