Processor upgrade on some Folding boxes

Saw on Newegg some P4B Northwood 2.8 478 for $70. Would this be an worthwill upgrade for a couple of folding boxes that are running Celeron CPUs(2.0 & 2.4)?

I'd go with a northwood over a prescott, but that speed differential makes the decision hard. The prescotts do one thing really well, GET HOT. If you really want to run folding fast, get an ati X1900 series video card. Stanford released a client that runs on the card and it's 30x-40x faster than a CPU. Yes, that's 30x-40x, not 30-40 %.

What exact motherboards are you using? Are your Celerons Northwood 400FSB or Prescott 533 FSB (Celeron-D)? (The 2.0 has to be a Northwood but the 2.4 could be either)

Both Celerons are Northwoods and one mobo is an Asus P4PV-MX P4-M266a and the other is an older Soyo board.

I selected the Northwood P4 thinking that the motherboards won't support Prescotts.

If you meant P4VP-MX, it supports 533 FSB 2.4 and 2.8 Prescotts and all Celeron D's with a bios update. It supports all 400 and 533 FSB Northwoods with stock bios.

No idea about the Soyo without a model.
