How good are Tyan boards?

I've got a Tyan S1846 MB and a P2/350 processor I am planning to use for a Devil-Linux hardware firewall and public FTP server. I have two 3-Com network cards (both 3C905B-TX) I will be using, so this will take a lot of the burden off the processor for networking.

My question is the reliablity of the board, it has Intel everything and I will be putting a 128 MB stick in each of the three RAM slots.

MB: http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=219
CPU: http://processorfinder.intel.com/det...px?sspec=sl38m

I would appreciate any opinions.
Thanks.

It's at least 6 or 7 years old isn't it?
Has it ever been used?

It is a P2 Slot-1 board, so it is old... I'm not sure of the manufactured date though (the linked review was 1998).

Yes it has been used, it was running Windows 98 before it was "donated" to me.

From what I can tell everything is still working on it.

Solid board. 440BX chipset. Just make sure those ram modules are not high density or it will only see half the ram. It *will* accept low density 256mb modules too.

It supports P3's too - Katmais up to 600 with stock bios and Coppermines up to 850 with bios 2.00, but it does NOT support 133 FSB.

Tyan has primarily been a server board manufacturer, but those old BX workstation boards were very high quality.

Long time ago, during a PC Fair there, a computer shop was selling computers with AMD K6-2 processors, and they fitted them with Tyan S1590 motherboards. Heard that the board is rock-solid, and I'm not sure whether they are still selling this in the auction sites/2nd-hand-shops...

The S1590 is not an Intel slot 1 board with a BX chipset though.
