Getting full rated clock speed

I just put together a Core 2 Duo system, using the Gigabyte ga-945p-s3 mobo and the E6300 chip. It works fine, but the first page of the BIOS tells me that the CPU is running at 1.4 GHz. (The chip is rated for 1.8 GHz). Going into the Bios, I see that the "CPU Frequency" is 200 MHz, so I assume the multiplier is 7x. I don't see anywhere I can change the multiplier. Is it locked on the Intel chip?

I'm pretty sure the FSB speed should be higher than 200Mhz on a C2D, maybe 266. Anyone know for sure?

I figured it out. When I "disabled" the auto clock speed in order to set it manually, the bios set the clock to default values.. which happened to be 200 Mhz. After I set it back to auto, the frequency went to 266. This supports a 1066 FSB and 667 MHz memory.

Yes, 266MHz is the right setting for a Core 2 Duo. (266MHz x 7 = 1862Mhz)

Yes, setting clock speed to "auto" takes care of it. All is well... for now... until I overclock it and toast the chip...
