Laser Mouse and Mouse Pad...HELP

I am looking to buy a good mouse pad for my G7 Laser mouse, but from the reviews almost everypad has people say it just doesn't work well with laser. I'm willing to spend up to $40...what do you all recommend?

Not sure what the "Func" is.

Do you absolutely need a mouse pad? Optical and laser mice don't need mouse pads like the old roller ball mice did. I have a Logitech laser mouse as well, and I haven't used a mouse pad since I bought it.

Func is a mousepad company, they make great pads and I highly recommend them! I have one myself, its sweet, the pad is two sided with a rough/smooth surface, and a nice rubber pad you can place under the mouse pad.

A mouse isn't very effective in reaction if it doesnt have a good surface, which is important to gamers.

Here is a link to the fUnc pad:

The reason I want a nice pad is because with the G7, certain surfaces just dont work well with it.

I have a SteelPad 5L and I absolutely love it. I have a logitech laser mouse and it works just fine with it. It's large and provides a firm, stable surface yet it doesn't cause pain in your hand from long gaming sessions like the completly hard mousepads do.

My roommate reviewed it on this site a while back. I thought it was much better than the hard pads like the icemat products.

Some of the reviews say "but it doesn't get along with the G7."

You should read the whole review. That person was talking about a different pad that didn't get along with the G7. All the reviews I saw said it worked great with the G7.

Quote:
Pros: Plenty of width, surface very similar to normal cloth pads which in my case, seems to give me more control (coming from an ex-Thunder 9 rough user). Nice feel on the palm.

Most importantly for me, it works perfectly with the Logitech G7 laser.

Cons: Height of the pad could use another inch or more. Pad seems thicker than normal cloth and most certainly it's thicker than plastic pads. Because of the thickness, it rubs on your wrist, which may eventually cause the cloth surface to fray (no finished edges like plastic pads). Image on the pad is a bit diffused and fuzzy.

Someone else mentioned the smell of this pad.....believe it. Major stink, no joke.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I like the pad. Although I would have been perfectly happy with my Thunder 9 rough, but it doesn't get along with the G7.
I never noticed a smell, and if there is one it will definitely fade within a week or 2.

But don't think you think the pad art is a bit corny?

Yeah but hell, its a Steel Pad! Both Func and Steel Pad are very known for being great manufacturers for Mouse Pads.

Either one should be awesome for your rig man.

If you hate the art on it, then I suggest get an iCEMAT. They are supposedly very good for games like Counterstrike if you dig that sorta thing .

Then get one of SteelPad's other products, without the artwork.
