mobo compatibility

i decided to go with seagate 7200.10 series instead of raptor after most responses favoring seagate.

looking at one of these

i have this motherboard-

which says it supports SATA but dont know if it supports SATA 2.
does seagate 10 require sata 2 on mobo?

just read one of the review on newegg.

Performance is limited by your motherboards specs, so some will not get the speed possible.

my mobo is pretty old(1-2year)... should i be worried?

Just plug in one of the ATA 100s and keep life simple.

SATA 3.0Gbps should work with that mobo. 3.0 is *suppose to* be backward compatible and usually works fine, but there are very rare times it doesn't work (and that is usually with add-on cards from what I've heard.)

Intel ICH controllers don't have problems with SATA II drives - it's mostly old Via controllers.

You will NEVER notice a speed difference between SATA I and SATA II.
