SATA HD install issue

I have a new WD SATA HD and a new copy of Windows XP Home with SP2 that I am trying to install on my computer. The BIOS sees the HD, but Windows does not. I have an ASUS P4S8X motherboard. Not sure what I need to do to get this to work, any suggestions?

Have you formated the new hd,

You need to press F6 at the beginning of Setup when prompted to install 3rd party storage drivers - and put in the floppy disk with the SATA drivers. If the motherboard did not come with the floppy, you can make the disk from the motherboard CD or by downloading the drivers from the Asus support site.

Thanks for the replies.

I have the motherboard CD which has the drivers on it, but can not figure out how to copy the drivers to a floppy. I also downloaded the zip files from the ASUS site, but do not know which files to copy to the floppy. Any info/help is greatly appreciated!!

Open the pdc20376_15 folder and copy everything in there to a floppy.

I copied the files onto a floppy and installed. But when I go back into setup, I run into another problem. I get a blue screen with a message......

"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent any damage to your computer."

"Check to be sure you have adequate disk space....."

"Check to sure the BIOS is up to date....."

Download memtest86+ and make the floppy and run diagnostics.

I just did a search and found that same article.

I will try the memtest thing.
