Printer connection

I have three computers setup close to each other. I want to connect them to a parallel printer. I have a three way data switch that should do it. I am using a cable with a "DB 25 Male" plug on each end. The cable is called a "laplink parallel cable". The printer is a HP 722c. I can not make it work. My question is, am I using the right cable? Everything works fine if I connect only one computer to the printer using a parallel printer cable.

y not just connect the parallel printer to a pc that has a parallel port on it and use it has a print server, share out the printer and connect the other two printers to it.

fyi, the pc that the printer is physically attached to must be left on for the other two to print.

The laplink cable will not work, it's wired differently than a switchbox cable.

If the computers are networked, just do as Ob1 suggested - share it from one computer.
