Chassis Intrusion

Not sure if this is the correct forum but:

I have an Asus P5LD2-VM motherboard on which I am trying to use the "Chassis Intrusion connector". I can find no information on how to programmatically monitor this connector nor can I find any information on how an "intrusion" is detected. I attempted to read from the BIOS using Win32_BIOS class but cannot find the property name. Asus is not very helpfull, I did find information that Asus only supports this on server systems.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Moved to correct forum.

The chassis intrustion I believe merely sounds an alarm from the motherboard speaker if your case is opened. It works only if you have a case with somekind of movement sensor. The majority of cases do not have this, which is probably why its tough to find information.

My case does, and I am using it...but it can be a PAIN at times. Lucky for you I use a new Asus board as well (not the P5LD2...but its ok). Look in your manual, on the page with the general layout of the board (if you dont have you manual, go to the asus website and download it). It should be a small connector near the bottom left of the MB. Then make sure you connect the cable in the right way...(you will notice the fact that your computer will not boot but instead say "chassis intrusion" if it is connected wrong.

Also, i have to say, I have it using a Thermaltake Kandalf, black steel case, and unless i have the thumb screw in tight the connector will be broken (like the current is broken, (its how the connector works.)) and I wont be able to turn on my computer. So you might think twice before using this feature.

If you want to disable the Case Intrusion switch, should be able to jumper the pins on the motherboard to where the case switch connects to. If you have a junk drive around the jumper from them may work.
