Would this combination of cooling products work?

Hey all. Was just wondering if I could put all of these products in my rig for superior cooling. Here goes:

Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX (120mm fan)
Thermalright HR-05-SLI High Riser Northbridge Chipset Cooler
Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 REV. 3 VGA Cooler

I just wanted to ask because I am having doubts about the chipset cooler. These mods will be applied to the rig in my sig, except the case will be a custom wood case, with a layout similar to Mountain Mods Bob Slay case. Thanks for the input in advance.

Hi,

First, on the Big Typhoon. It is an excellent cpu cooler. But I personally would never use it:
Why I like it>
One of the best coolers on the market. Does not interfere with socket area. Can give amazing results with very little fannage, hence very silent.

Why I hate it>
Horrid Mounting, It is a pain in the butt to get through.
WAYY too much torque on the motherboard, since its very top heavy, it will damage your motherboard in the long term.
Disruption to case airflow; The fan is located at the very top of this huge heatsink. Therefore it will suck air from area's which dont have too much of it. Disrupting the overall "sealed tunnel" style characteristics that are in many cases.

I would rather suggest of these coolers instead:
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
Scythe Mine
I highly suggest you take the measurements from the manufacturer's websites and MAKE sure that non of these coolers are too tall.

Chipset Cooler is excellent. The best on the market today. Check thermalright's website for installation issues regarding the cooler.

On the vga. That silencer is an Excellent cooler. But if you want one better then I suggest you look at this:

I too was worried about the weight of the typhoon, thats what motivated me to make my own custom case so that the motherboard is lying flat. Also, I plan on cutting out a duct right above the heatsink fan so that fresh air is sucked in from outside of the case, not the warm air in the case. I was just worried if the chipset fan would interfere with the heatsink. Basicall,y my case is being designed from the ground up with cooling in mind. Will definitely consider the Accelero as well but im a bit hesitant to get a cooler that doesnt exhaust air out of the case like the silencer does. Nevertheless, I will have a hard time deciding which to purchase. Thank you for your response, much appreciated.

Only one thing. See if the duct is made, there is one problem. For best performance the fan should blow air down into the heatsink. When your exaust fan exausts hot air from the case, it will rise, and the fan on your heatsink will suck it back into the case.
Or am I incorrect as to the design of the case?

If you would kindly click on the link to the bob slay case, you will see what i mean. There will be two shelves, on top will be the mobo lying flat and the psu, hdd, and optical drives on the bottom shelf. There will be the duct for the cpu up top and intake and exhaust fans on the sides. Hope that clears it up. Unless of course, you are correct and I am misinterpreting what you are saying

Nono thats what I meant . Atleast one of the fans on the first shelf will be exausting, so therefore wont the Typhoon be intaking the hot air exausted from the case?

For my case, there will be two exhaust fans on the pci slot end of the mobo. These will be standing up so exhausting air to the wall. The intake for the cpu fan will be on top of the case, facing the ceiling. I dont think I mentioned this before but I am planning on adding a "scoop' - just like on cars. So, the intake for the cpu will be facing the ceiling but the scoop makes the air it sucks in come from the front.Hope that makes more sense. Also, in theory, the hot air would go to the top of the room and there would be cooler in the front of the case, where the air scoop is located.

Ah I understand. Thats a perfectly fine Idea. Ive used ducting like that in some of my cases in which I needed to reverse the airflow direction. I see what you mean.
