Hey guys, i need some help with a fan problem.
Ive had my computer for a few years now, it has served me well. However, about 6 months ago the chipset fan started making really loud noises (almost like a revving up and down), as if it was trying to start, but not getting enough power. I checked it out with a torch, it seemed to be working fine. I took it out, cleaned it, put it back in, and same deal. So i replaced it, and all was sweet. A few weeks ago, it did it AGAIN. So i've replaced it, and it was fine for a while, but a few days ago, it started making buzzing noises again. Now what could be wrong? Is it fixable? Or is my mobo just getting to the end of its life? Thanks in advance. |

The bearings in the fan are probably going. I would replace it with a passive cooler. No fan and a larger heatsink to dissipate the heat. Here are some: http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l3/g40/...ive-Page1.html Just be sure you have clearance in the case from video cards and other things.
