CD rom - Help

Why cd rom holds prior cd data and won't view next cd data when I put it in.
Must reboot to see data on next cd.
What could be wrong.
I have new Asus P4S800D-X board and 250 gig drive running XP-pro.
All else seems to work fine.
Setup correctly shows correct cd model on secondary IDE master
The cd rom is Toshiba XM-6702b
Any ideas?

Try the CD-ROM drive in another computer. If the same thing happens there, the CD-ROM drive is dying and should be replaced.

Have you scanned for viruses, spyware, trojans and hijackers yet?

And you might want to give Windows a good cleaning with http://www.ccleaner.com/CCleaner.
