cpu fan recommendations

Hi all,

It seems I have to replace my cpu fan/heat sink. Anyone have advice on what the better ones are? Also any thoughts on thermal grease?

Instead of replacing the whole heatsink/fan unit, you could just replace the fan with a new one. Most AMD retail heatsink fans are only held onto the heatsink by 4 small screws.

Hey Cricket,

Thank you for pointing that out to me. I'm a type of person who will buy a new car when a tire goes flat I tend to over do things a bit.

Any thoughts on just a fan? Something that wont degrade in just a few months time (like this one).

Look for fans with ball bearings from name brand fan makers like Antec, Panaflo, Sunon, Vantec, Thermaltake, Zalman.

Make sure you get the right size too. Most standard heatsinks use 60mm fans but lately 70mm fans are showing up.

Very nice choice. Based off of Sunon's quiet series.
