Won't detect External HDD

I'm having a problem with my external HDD. It's a 320gig Seagate sata in a Rosewill enclosure. It works fine on my computer, but I took it home to get some files off my other computer, and this computer won't detect it at all. I plug it in, and the computer does nothing. I have already tried going to disk management, and rescanning disks and i get nothing. I also tried it on my sisters laptop, and it does nothing then as well. I'm confused as to why it works on my main computer, but not on these?

A little more info may help: what are the OSs involved? and which SPs? Is the drive in NTFS or FAT32? Is this a USB or Firewire? and do USB / Firewire device work in the other systems?

Have you tried any other usb device on the suspect pc's? A flash drive/thumb drive would be a good test if you have one to try. Also, are you plugging in the usb ports in the front of the case or in the back? Are you using the same usb cable as on the machine that works? Does your external enclosure offer a separate power unit? Possibly needed on the other pc's.

Yes other USB devices work. That was the first thing I tried. This computer has a USB printer plugged in, so i unplugged it, and plugged in the HDD, and nothing. It does have a power adapter, and it does work. (and Yes, same cable)

So the systems it won't work on also have Win XP on them, but other USB devices do work? That would indicate a problem with the Rosewill enclosure. Do you have access to another brand of enclosure to test with?
