Anything better to cool my new E6300 Core 2 Duo then the Arctic Freezer 7?

I just got a great deal on the Intel E6300 but iw was an OEM chip without the HSF. I have heard nothing but good things about the Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 pro and was wondering if anything is comparable at a lower price of if it's just not worth the trouble to look at anything else...

Thanks!

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro is an excellent unit. I'd suggest you stick with that.

Do the newer processors not need as big of a heatsink/fan as the older ones? I have a Thermaltake Volcano 9 that dwarfs that particular item and I am cooling an XP 3000 with it.

Thermalright Ultra 90

You will need an additional 90mm fan.

Are you sure the Volcano 9 is bigger? The ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro uses a 92mm fan on the heatsink fins where the Volcano 9 only uses a 80mm fan. It may look smaller because of the way the fan is oriented but it's actually a bigger heatsink.

And the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro uses heat pipes to improve thermal efficiency where the Volcano 9 is just a typical heatsink.

Just to give an example. On stock cooling my E6300 was running at 50 idle and 62+ load. I bought myself the Arctic Freezer 7 pro and now I have temps that are at 30 idle and around 42-45 on 100% load using the Thermal Analysis Tool (TAT). I am very happy with these results.

Well, from the picture, the heatsink towers did not look very tall. Even if the fan is larger. My Heatsinks are about 4 to 5 inches high. It is actually so tall that I can't slide the Tray that holds my motherboard out of the case with the Heatsink On.

They may not be as cheap, but the Thermalright heatsinks are, in my opinion, some of the best air cooling you can get. As MR. F mentioned, the Ultra 90 as well as the XP 90 and 120 are excellent units. There are a few other excellent coolers, the Tuniq Tower and the Ninja Scythe, but they are more expensive yet.
