hard drive not recognized
I just bought a new processor..and I have an SATA hard drive that was always used as a slave hdd, so it doesnt have windows xp pro loaded on it like my main hdd, which i believe to be fried because i accidentally plugged in both power plugs, SATA and the normal power plug, and now it doesnt recognize it.
ok so the problem is i'm trying to load windows xp pro onto my slave drive, but whenever try to boot from cd it goes through all the steps until it gets to the point where it asks if I want to use the windows recovery system, or install windows. I press "enter" which chooses the latter, but immediately it shows "hard disk drive not recognized." So I don't know if it's a problem with the mobo, hdd, or new processor..help! |

Did you remove the dead SATA HDD and then connect the second SATA HDD to SATA 0 or 1?
How old is this computer? Does it need the SATA controller driver on a floppy to be used prior to Windows installation? Cricket
