ipod format harddrives, whats their specs?

I was looking at a page where an ipod was taken apart to see what sort of harddrive is used in it. It seems like in many ways its a miniature version of a regular harddrive. The guy on the page said he ordered a new ipod harddrive to fix his broken one.

I wasn't able to find the ipod harddrive specifications though. How fast is it compared to say 7200 or 5000 speed regular harddrive? why aren't these used in PCs?

You can use a Toshiba drive in an iPod (full specs for the drive) if you're willing to fiddle with it some.
specs here : http://hoct12.stores.yahoo.net/968.html

Or you can go here and get one ready to go : http://www.ipodmechanic.com/advanced...rds=hard+drive
