Angry problem with dvdr drive on ide#2 and 3

i have a gigabyte GA-8I945P-G motherboard
intel 3.0 ghz cpu
2 westdigita harddrive 40 gig master 160 slave
lite on cdr drive master
lg dvdr on ide #2 but the problem with it is that when my computer boot up my bios
see it but window does not?
i try adding to hardware in windows but nothing comes up.

Depending on the type of IDE cable that you have on the optical drives determine how the drives are to be jumpered. If the flat cable is a 40 wire(very washboard looking and connectors same color)then the drives are jumpered Master/Slave. If a 80wire cable(connectoers blue/gray/black) then the jumpers are set to CS(cable select).

do you have burning software like Nero...does the software see it...?

some dvd burners dont like being a slave so try the cable select as mentioned... or try the drive on the IDE all by itself and see what happens?

You have 3 IDE connectors. Only the red connector may be used for optical drives - the 2 green connectors will only work with hard drives.

looks like im going to have to rebuild the whole thing again
when i was trying to install service pack 2 the damn computer just shut off on me again
now its getting power but will not boot up again
and i dont think its the ide cable might be my board. i know my harddrive work
when i hook it up to my frans comp it work just fine
