USB Pocket PC woes

Hello all, when I plug in my Windows mobile 2005 based pocket pc into my sony laptop pc via USB, I get an error message "USB Device Not Recognized." I am sure you have all seen this error message before, and it's really bugging me.

My computer will not recognize the pocket PC so I cannot sync my contacts over from outlook via Activesync or any other program.... Seeing as this pocket PC is also my phone, I would like to have my contacts atleast, and there are too many to sync manually.

The laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-TX750P, with Windoze XP pro running on it. I have tried different USB ports, and I get the same error. When I plug my printer in, it recognizes the printer and recieves no error... Any ideas?

did the pocket pc come with software to hook up to your computer? if so install it first, then try it. it could just be you need a driver for it so that windows will recognize it.
