Hard drive makes a chirp when computer is shut down

Just received a replacement hd from Newegg and now when I shut my computer down, the hd makes a chirp sound. When I received the hd today, the bubble rap was broken on one side, but no damage to the outside of the box. I am afraid to put my info on it for fear of the hd going out. It is a Seagate barracuda 500g and I dont recall any of my other hard drives making this noise. Is this a problem? I already know the answer but I would like the experts opinion. I am going to run Seagates hd check on it now. Any other suggests would be welcome.

Thanks for the suggestion, I am downloading it now. Does it sound like the hd is going to go bad? I have to be honest, I am using it in my xbox, and it makes the chirp when the xbox shuts down. I have 2 maxtor 300g hds in it now and neither one makes this noise. When I put the new seagate 500g in my computer to check the health, I shut my computer down to see if it would make the noise, it didnt. So I am a little confused on what to do. I have had other seagates in the xbox with no problems, no chirps. The chirp is kind of a warning sign that the drive is going to give, at least for me.

I should mention that the other Seagate 500g I received did not make the chirp sound when shut down. It just locked up from the shipping damage.
