your post is unclear on what actions you took. A hardrive has a 4 pin connection or the newer sata power connection. use one or the other. does the drive still spin up?

Yeah it has a 4 pin connection straight from the PSU, and what is a sata power by the way does it have more then 4 pins because there is a connection next to the one with 4 pins that has about 6 or 8 i cant remember.

Basically what i did was completely pointless my graphics card requires power from the PSU, so at first i used a 6 pin cable with a 4 pin converter, anyway PAM told me in the other thread its better too use the former e.g. the 4 pin connection i was using for the HDD so what i did was open up my case and did a quick swap, when to boot up my PC and didnt seem to do anything i then tried booting again and the pc whent on for about 3-4 seconds then shut down, after this i then opened the case up again and put the cables back where they were originaly to then discover the HDD fails too post.

You do not want to put two connectors into your hard drive. I really cannot understand what you did... what do you mean you used an adapter for your hard drive?

You REALLY should have continued this discussion in the old thread so everyone can follow the sequence of events that have transpired.

Plus, using punctuation would greatly improve the chance of others understanding your posts. No periods and no caps makes it very difficult to follow the sentences.

I can't understand what you are trying to say, but if you connected a 4 pin power plug to a SATA hard drive that already has a SATA power plug connected, you just blew your hard drive.

You shouldn't need to use any connectors/adapters related to your video card at all.

The specific XFX 7900GT that Pixel has DOES require a six pin PCI-E power connector. As I explained in his other thread, he should be using the dedicated modular PCI-E connector that comes with the Hiper 580w power supply - it runs straight from the power supply to the video card.

I was referring to his hard drive. He mentioned using some adapters for his hard drive - I think, but as others said it is very hard to follow the problem.

You should probably try using the old hard drive, but use the right connections and see if it works. It possible you didn't fry it.

Erm, how did you connect this to the hard drive? Hard drives do not have a 6-pin socket!

did it combine the 6 pins into 4, or did it just remove 2 pins?

LOL, why did you take the video card adapter and use it for the hard drive? Did you have enough molex connectors or SATA connectors?

Personally I would try for a replacement under warranty. Why? Because it is possible it was defective in the first place.
